I haven’t had a film have me speechless during the credits in a very long time, You Were Never Really Here does just that! This is from the director of We Need To Talk About Kevin (another movie that left me speechless), this movie was one of my most anticipated movies of 2018 and it really delivered. Joaquin Phoenix gives one hell of a performance possibly the best performance so far of 2018, the writing is top notch it feels realistic, haunting, thrilling and it really grabs your attention. The filming is absolutely beautiful, it has this dark atmosphere to it that really fits the mood of the movie and gives it this incredible atmosphere that a lot of films try to get but fail. One movie this film really reminds me of a tiny bit is Old Boy (not the garbage remake America made), I definitely felt they had a similar atmosphere. I also found this movie to be actually disturbing, without spoiling anything as the movie goes on it really gets more haunting. The ending I absolutely loved, also the tension will have you at the edge of your seat during the running time! But what I loved most about this movie was the direction, it’s phenomenal and really leaves you amazed of how beautifully put together this film really is. Overall You Were Never Really Here is a must see, it’s one of the best films of the year hands down!!
