Every so often I see a movie that grabs me on such a personal level that I feel grateful it exists. This of one of those movies. It’s utterly captivating in a way I can’t even process yet. It contains one of the sexiest shots I’ve seen this year, the time-stop moment is joyfully beautiful, and then it’s followed up by one of the best breakup scenes I can think of.
Renate Reinsve is perfect. I was with her every step of the way and she captures every charming flaw of Julie’s and morphs it into something altogether stunning. Anders Danielsen Lie is just as exceptional. The best scenes are between the two of them and his were the deliveries that really broke me.
The screenplay had lines that are going to stick with me for a while. It takes all the messiness of life and relationships and selfishness and lays it out so recognizably. I loved it.
