Phill Hill’s review published on Letterboxd:
Can you believe a cgi tiger in a boat beat this film for best cinematography at the 2013 oscars? Woof.
Literally the first ten seconds of this movie gains back all the confidence that was lost in Quantum of Solace, as far as this being a SPY franchise.
Thank you, Roger Deakins, Thomas Newman, Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig.
What a powerhouse team.
~ Quick Hits ~
• Ben Whishaw coming in as Q, was a fine choice, indeed! As well as Naomie Harris & Ralph Fiennes respectively.
• Javier MF Bardem, best Bond villain ever? Certainly a contender.
• I remember jumping in my seat when the subway 🚇 comes out of the ceiling.
This movie is a love letter to Judi Dench as M, (who asked to be written out of the series, due to her increasing blindness), as well as a celebration of 50th anniversary of James Bond...and yet neither of these intentions distract, both constructively builds it to be one of the greatest Bond movies of all time.
