Midsommar ★★★★

Entrancing, disturbing, disorientating and oh so anxiety inducing. Aster has gone two for two in making films that have made my jaw literally drop. With gorgeous cinematography and humor that surprisingly works quite well, Midsommar is an interesting take on anxiety, grief and relationships that transforms a sun-drenched summer landscape into a terrifying daymare. Broad daylight has never been so unsettling. While not as cohesive or character driven as Hereditary (which is why I love it a little less), this film is still a wild ride that definitely confirms my faith in the horror genre.
