Matt Novak wrote an article here outlining every movie Jimmy Carter watched while President of the USA. This is that list in the order he watched it. I see this as further evidence that Carter is the coolest American President alive and he would have likely had an anonymous burner on LB if it was around in the '70s.
Some tidbits:
Films Jimmy Carter watched more than once: Citizen Kane, Maltese Falcon, Manhattan, Annie Hall, Kramer vs Kramer, Lost Horizon, Rocky, Paper Moon, The In-Laws, Lost Horizon, 10 and Star Wars (4 times).
Directors who show up repeatedly: Billy Wilder, William Wyler, Delbert Mann, Michael Curtiz, Howard Hawks, John Ford, John Huston, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Hal Ashby, Elia Kazan,…

Other directors that make you say, Fuck yeah, Jimmy: Kurosawa, Bergman, Truffaut, Fassbinder, Scorsese, Coppola, Friedkin, De Palma, Cassavetes, Peckinpah, Lean, Leone, Lumet, Malick, Siegel, Demme, Nichols, Rafelson, Ray, Fuller, Gillian Armstrong, and Kubrick.
Cracks me up that Midnight Cowboy is on the books as a President of the USA permanently on the record watching an X-rated movie.
Jonathan Demme's Citizens Band was watched as a new release, which is worth noting because it bombed so horribly it temporarily ended Demme's career until Peter Falk hired him to direct an episode of Columbo to get him back working again. Peter Falk was the only known fan of Citizens Band, at the time, but perhaps Jimmy Carter was, too?
Jimmy Carter had an absolutely galaxy brained double feature of Casablanca/Young Frankenstein on March 25, 1977.
He watched Star Wars at Camp David with Anwar Sadat, the President of Egypt, on February 4, 1978.
On November 19, 1980, at 7:31 pm, Jimmy Carter watched a film only labeled "". 9:23 pm he returned back upstairs. What was this mysterious film that went unlabeled? There is a Pulitzer Prize waiting for you, the reader of this dumb list, if you find that out. Godspeed.
