J.G. Edwards’s review published on Letterboxd:
There is nothing like this film. I wish Kurosawa could've made a hundred more of these huge, epic movies. So many incredible moments, but the huge siege sequence with only music and no other sound is one of Kurosawa's absolute best achievements. It's horrifying in its brutality. Mieko Harada is really astonishing here, as Lady Kaede. I really want to see all of Shakespeare's work as interpreted by Kurosawa, as this and Throne of Blood are two of the best adaptations I've seen.
