the closest thing James Wan has done to Saw since, well, Saw but also a pretty bold departure from everything he has done since resulting in the sort of ultra-weird kitchen sink horror we expected from the 80s (and the more renegade filmmakers of the 90s); pretty wild that he got a major studio to bankroll something this high concept and go for broke and that ACAB climax is one for the books - should at least have a long shelf life as a double feature programmer with Brain Damage
