Holy shit. That was not like anything I’ve seen before. Raw indeed. I haven’t had a movie turn my stomach like that since Cannibal Holocaust. Maybe ever. There was a scene in Walking Dead where a group member is captured and unconscious. He comes to and the cannibals that took him are eating his severed leg in front of him. This is one of the only times I’ve had the same reaction.

There are a few early scenes, mostly the…

    The Slumber Party Massacre

Feels more like a slasher parody than a slasher, but done so subtly you never roll your eyes. The drill weapon is hilariously on the nose. The setup wastes no time with the escaped murderer immediately showing up and drilling away. This was both campy and classic slasher at the same time. A fun, trashy 80s romp.

I got to see this at my Alamo theater on The Big Show, a massive screen with Dolby sound. That was next level. I can’t wait to see more on The Big Show. As for this Scream, it was everything I expected it to be. Unfortunately nothing more. I was hoping they would do something to blow my mind, but I couldn’t fathom what that might be. I guess that’s why it would blow my mind. But I was expecting…

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

Wow. That was grizzly. Henry has issues for sure. Michael Rooker is this film end to end. You 100% believe he is the twisted killing machine that enjoys nothing in life but stabbing and snapping necks. Otis, on the other hand, is a dumb, backwards patsy, and Becky is the ultimate victim all the way through. There is no beacon of light here. Just a pure, disturbing tale of extremely broken people.
