I don't think I've ever really seen dreams or mental illness portrayed this well in a film, at least not to this effect. Donnie Darko is still an excellent film to this day, boasted by a haunting score, a terrifying and yet oddly calming atmosphere, terrific editing, and a jaw droppingly brilliant lead performance by Jake Gyllenhaal.
