The first half of The Nice Guys gave me some delightful Inherent Vice vibes. Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe are a great team within this vague meandering structure, their humor is the cement that binds the film's loose elements together. That being said, the second half consists of less randomness and clearly less inspiration. Here the plot becomes predictable and simple; the chasing scene is almost a parody of the opening half of the film. The Nice Guys shows a lot of potential, but only partly pays off - still, the laughs are worth is.
