They did a great job making DeNiro look younger, but Joe Pesci looks like 93 from the very beginning.
It's a funny movie but it can't compete with most of McKay's other work. It starts off great, then slowly loses hilariousness and ultimately ends on a rather bland note. Even the post-credit scene was a lackluster.
Anyway, I really don't want to bash this movie, it's a solid comedy with lots of funny moments.
What a terrific movie.
Seeing this at 3.1 average here on Letterboxd and have overall rather mediocre ratings is quite a shocker for me. The acting, how the story was unfolded, the minimalistic sound design, the visuals - and more - made me feel very immersed in the story. Only in the second half it could have been maybe 5 or 10 minutes shorter, but seriously, that's all I can say negatively about it and I can't give it less than 4 1/2 stars.
Feels so underrated!
