I'm trying to make an effort to rank the directors whose filmography I've completed. I finished watching through all of the Coen Brothers' films three years ago, some aren't so fresh in my brain, but this ranking is pretty close to how I feel. I haven't seen True Grit in ten years, so that one is real blurry.
When watching through their filmography, I was mainly surprised how much I loved their sleeper hits. Movies like The Hudsucker Proxy, Barton Fink and The Man Who Wasn't There really left an impact on me. I was even pleasantly surprised by how Coen-y The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty still felt despite their reputations.
Hail, Caesar and Buster Scruggs feel like their least consistent. Maybe it's a fall from grace like all directors who get too big and lose their relatability, but hopefully not.
