The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run

    ★★★

Sponge on the Run attempts to recapture the magic of the 2004 hit film and somewhat hits and misses. Sure, it’s adorable and sincere and often times hilarious but at times the writing is inconsistent. The animation is interesting and often works and often times doesn’t. Keanu and Snoop Dogg are highlights but don’t save this film. It’s a shame that they didn’t end this franchise after the creators passing

Television has had an interesting change of pace in the recent decade. New and ongoing series from different programs and streaming services have different styles and innovations that blur that lines between television quality and the quality of a film. Series like Mr. Robot, Euphoria, and Breaking Bad among others presented themselves to be more than their worth. However, there can be instances where an acclaimed filmmaker will go from film to television to keep up with modern culture. Series…

    Still Processing

    ★★★★★

I'm sitting in my dorm room, alone with my thoughts and feeling empty inside. I press play on "still processing", a short film i've heard nothing but praise and admiration from peers and friends. Nothing prepared for what was to come; a brutally honest, emotional, vulnerable and a bold new vision in the world of filmmaking. Sophy allows the audience to level with the trauma she endures and is haunted of her past, something that constantly reminisces with her family.…

    Spider-Man 2

    ★★★★★

Spider-Man 2 is a comic book brought to life. While it’s predecessor is a stereotypical origin story, this film displays the effects of having powers as a person and how it effects the people around you. Brought to life by a fantastic performance by Maguire and Alfred Molina as Doc Octopus! The score is as iconic as ever and the writing is so charming and sincere while also not afraid of going dark. Raimi’s direction is both silly and sinister…

    The Wolf of Wall Street

    ★★★★

Not to be the 50,000th person to say this but The Wolf Of Wall Street is a fantastic and unhinged film. Scorsese directs the hell out of this film, making a three hour runtime seem like 20 minutes. Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic as Belfort, a money crazed little shit who is crazy for money. The writing is comedic and does not feel like a typical biopic. The editing is fast and filled with high energy. Definitely one of Scorsese’s best!

One of the most rewatchable film of the last decade and will always be enjoyable to watch. Scorsese is just simply the king!

    [Director’s Cut]

Doctor Sleep places director Mike Flanagan at his most dream like and personal with this film. It does not try to make itself become better than its predecessor but manages to be a worthy successor. Ewan McGregor is THE male performance of 2019, playing a man who is not quite over the traumas that still haunt him from when he was a boy. The film is perfectly paced and never feels boring or padded. The fan service is…

    Wildlife

    ★★★★½

Paul Dano comes out of the gates with a heartbreaking and emotional roller coaster of a debut with Wildlife. A simple story told in a very delicate and calm manner with a script meant to show how powerful it’s leads are. While this could be directed by anyone else, it’s feels entirely in Dano’s realm. The acting especially by Carey Mulligan is fantastic and the cinematography suits the film, almost reminiscent of classic Terrance Malick. However the score felt very lackluster to me, nothing too memorable about it.

Hope Paul Dano continues to impress me
