🎬films that defined* my 2019— rewatches, noirs, pre-codes, and boris karloff 🌃

*(not a list of favorites)

I find the task of compiling my “favorite” films of the year to be impossible. My ratings system is no system at all, just a mess of stars that don’t really mean anything in the long run. That’s why when I look back on 2019, I chose the films that were memorable to my life in some way, the films that have imprinted themselves in my mind for weeks or months at a time. A lot of them aren’t really favorites—even one I kinda dislike??!— but I think they all defined my 2019, in their own unique ways.
