    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

    ★★★★

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse might be the first animated film to leave my jaw on the floor, wondering how the hell the animators were able to accomplish what they did in a couple of particular sequences.

As for the movie itself, let's just say if Beyond the Spider-Verse is of similar overall quality to these first two 'Spider-Verse' films, we could be crowning a new king of animated film trilogies. The How to Train Your Dragon and the original Toy…

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

    ★★½

    The score slaps though.

  • Fast X

    Fast X

    ★★★

Dumb as fuck, but fun as fuck. Momoa’s Dante clears all villains in this franchise already. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone eat up a villainous role as much as he did here.

Trailers (IMAX): Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning: Part One, The Flash, Oppenheimer, Five Nights at Freddy’s

  • The Mother

    The Mother

    ★★

I could be convinced that this was actually directed by Olivier Megaton and not Niki Caro.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

    ★★★½

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sends off its beloved cast of characters on an action-packed and emotionally resonant high note. It’s certainly the most James Gunn movie of the trilogy in terms of its eccentricity. Can’t wait to download the soundtrack full of bangers!

Trailers (IMAX): The Flash, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Oppenheimer (the new one!), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Little Mermaid

  • Lucy

    Lucy

    ★★½

    I don't love Lucy.

  • Beau Is Afraid

    Beau Is Afraid

    ★★★½

Ari should’ve dropped this Mother’s Day weekend.

Trailers: Blackberry, The Boogeyman, Insidious: The Red Door, Past Lives, Talk to Me

  • Silence

    Silence

    ★★★★

Really surprised the lone Oscar nom this got was for cinematography…

  • The Covenant

    The Covenant

    ★★★

Nothing you have to rush out to see, but if you’re looking for a well-made war drama, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant is now playing in theaters.

Trailers: Asteroid City, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, It Ain’t Over, Fool’s Paradise, Kandahar

  • Evil Dead Rise

    Evil Dead Rise

    ★★★½

Delivers the goods you’d expect from an Evil Dead movie, although not quite as scary as the trailer for The Flash that played beforehand. Jumped every time there was a shot of Ezra Miller.

Trailers: Asteroid City, Carmen, Talk to Me, The Flash, Blue Beetle

  • The Simpsons Movie

    The Simpsons Movie

    ★★★½

    Sequel?

  • Shazam! Fury of the Gods

    Shazam! Fury of the Gods

    ★★½

As forgettable as a superhero sequel can get.
