This was really cute. The main character, Ellie, tells you right away how this is going to end, which really sets you up to look forward to how it plays out. Still, this could’ve had a better story in many places, such as when it took a random religious turn about an hour-fifteen in that really wasn’t executed well.
While nowhere near perfect, it’s just a film about teens finding love that’s probably most enjoyable for people in the characters’ age group. And to have Ellie be so different from the usual main characters just helps with representation and raises hope for future films. Honestly, I’m surprised that I liked it.
