Parasite is a great Bong Joon-ho movie: inventive, funny, dramatic, and you never know where it’s going plot wise, even without a sci-fi premise. I actually just realized I watched all his movies without even knowing it. They’re just all notable movies and I enjoyed them all.
I love the ending, to me it’s just a visualization of the boy’s letter but it doesn’t mean that it actually happened. I think more likely the boy never became rich and the father stayed in that basement until he either died or was found out. The point is that the father is now stuck in the basement for the rest of his life, now an actual basement instead of their half underground apartment; and now he’s physically stuck instead of just metaphorically stuck in the lower class.
What a brilliant film.
