Joe Bonner’s review published on Letterboxd:
The original scream was a nice surprise in how clever and self aware it was with playing with our expectations of horror movies. scream 2 managers to keep that cleverness at it's core but overall scream 2 doesn't reach the highs of the original. I don't think this is necessarily a bad sequel and the way they play with the fact that it is a sequel is such an interesting idea and very ahead of its time but the movie itself wasn't anything special to me. I do however think this is probably the best sequel they could of made with what they had. I think I'm slowly coming to the realisation and acceptance that I don't have a fondness for this franchise as others do, they are well made, clever horror movies that try and keep you guessing, but I just think I'm 10 years to late to this party. That being said I would recommend checking this one out as I don't think it's good as the original but I do think it still has some worthwhile content in this film.
