Glass Onion

Glass Onion ★★★★

An appropriately twisty follow up to Knives Out and the second installment of what will hopefully be a long running series. Whereas the first film takes on a timeless Agatha Christie style setting and character types, it makes sense for Glass Onion to go ultra modern in an attempt to contemporise old fashioned storytelling and try something different. However in doing so, the featuring of COVID (I figured it must be there to pay off as part of the mystery) and gags about Jared Leto's hard kombucha and Jeremy Renner's hot sauce is all a bit too of the moment, meaning this chapter might inadvertently date quite quickly. Minor distractions aside, this is great stuff once it gets going and an exquisitely styled Benoit Blanc unraveling how it's all done will never get old. I'm excited for the next one and 10 more after that.
