John Roberts’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Sh*t just goes on and on. You know."
This movie is really sad.
I didn’t expect to like it nearly as much as I did. There are a lot of smart small things that make this movie a good watch. For instance, I only realized there hadn’t been any white people (except in a restaurant) with about 30 minutes left. A few of the characters played on tropes, but there were also several that were very original and distinct. The film has an undertone of despair that you really pick up on when the scenes of the movie are juxtaposed with Vietnam coverage. Everyone cared so much what was happening on the other side of the globe, but no one cared what was going on in this neighborhood in LA.
