    Da 5 Bloods

    A war never ends.

Da 5 Bloods is a character driven tour-de-force from Spike Lee with one of the most compelling narratives of the year. The cast are so great together that the runtime is barely noticeable. Expect to hear the name Delroy Lindo a lot when awards season arrives.

  • Parasite

Act like you own the place.

Bong Joon-ho is a South Korean filmmaker with a very diverse filmography and one who brings a distinct reputation with him when releasing a film, the Bong Hive being the name of his devoted fanbase. His latest film, Parasite, gets a long awaited release in the UK and going into this one blind is one of the best decisions you could ever make.

All unemployed, Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho) and his family take peculiar interest…

    Demolition Man

The future isn't big enough for the both of them.

Demolition Man is about as 90s as it gets when it comes to action movies and that is undoubtedly a great thing. Made during an era where action movies had some form of personality with larger than life characters blowing up everything in sight for the sake of our entertainment, it's got two leads in Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes at the top of their game in a setting that…

    The Spirit

I'm gonna kill you all kinds of dead.

Oh, this was supposed to be a serious film and not a parody of Sin City? In fact, it's so beyond parody it isn't even funny. Legit one of the worst films I've ever seen.

    Knives Out

Hell, any of them could have done it.

Watching Knives Out again, there's no doubt in my mind Rian Johnson's film is destined to be a future classic. As expected, I picked up on different things this time round and different characters were favourites when they weren't so before. That's what happens I guess when the film is so well written and acted by one of the most impressive ensemble casts ever assembled. Quite how Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas avoided nominations across the board for their work here I'll never know.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Three years ago, Marvel Studios and James Gunn introduced us to the Guardians of the Galaxy, a superhero team of outcasts and misfits who resembled more of a dysfunctional family than a cohesive unit setting out to save the galaxy. It's safe to say the world fell in love with them right there and then, and now they're back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the fifteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

    With the Guardians of the…
