Josh Jones’s review published on Letterboxd:
Two brothers embark on a magical quest in order to bring back their dead father for a day.
Tom Holland and Chris Pratt voice two brothers one of which is fearful of everything and the other is irresponsible.
They bothth teach each other something by the end as there two character arcs are finalised.
The film has many heartfelt moments with the dead father and the strong themes of brotherly love.
The plot takes the form of a magic, medieval adventure set in modern times.
It deals with nostalgia and the fading of old traditions, along with appreciation of family.
The animation looked really nice, and encaptured a range of creatures and environments.
At times there was too much exposition in the dialogue. Some areas of the plot felt formulaic and some areas feel rushed, but overall this was a solid, if unremarkable Pixar experience.
