Darius Marder’s SOUND OF METAL is not only a fantastic debut, but also a breathtaking character study about coming to terms with the hand you’ve been dealt. In the case of Ruben Stone (Riz Ahmed in a career best performance), this means learning to cope with his loss of hearing, something most people can’t fathom living without until they are forced to. For Ruben, this is a painful and long journey, and thanks to Marder’s passionate filmmaking, we see his…
This is one of the most challenging first watches I’ve ever experienced. Unfamiliar with the source material, I went into this completely blind, knowing nothing more than that I was about to embark on another journey led by Charlie Kaufman. What a journey it was!
This movie drops you into an eerie dreamscape of a dying relationship that gets creepier by the minute. On the surface, this movie seems like a messy and very confusing story that’s certainly unsettling. Once you…
Cohen is back on his bull shit, and this time he’s coming to take down the Capitol Hill elite.
