As with basically all of Christopher Nolan’s films, Tenet easily merits recommendation just based on its technical achievements, originality, and score. The constant mastery in these areas are what make Nolan an elite director.

John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki all do an excellent job with the material here. I look forward to watching anything each of them do next.

Unfortunately, that’s where most of my praise for Tenet ends.

I didn’t enjoy myself during most of this film.…

My biggest pet peeve with movies is unjustified runtime. It is rare that I find it necessary to have a movie be longer than 90-100 minutes in length. So, when some of my peers started telling me that they felt this film was too long and uneventful I would usually be right on board with them, but with Doctor Sleep I was genuinely shocked to hear this. I was mesmerized with this film from start to finish.

    Doctor Sleep heavily leaned…

If Stranger Things was an R-rated horror film

    Things I liked:
    - The comedy almost always works. The movie has a number of laugh out loud moments
    - The movie has hope but isn’t afraid to get brutal
    - The overall lore the movie creates is interesting
    - It embraces the goofiness of itself in a good way

    Things I disliked:
    - I wanted it to lean just a tad more into the R rating. It feels more like a…

A frustratingly boring movie surrounded by great ideas and techniques

    What I Liked:
    - The premise of the film
    - The editing throughout but especially a subtle editing choice in the final act that was very unique and effective
    - The low budget feel done well

    What I Disliked
    - I was bored almost the entire film
    - The movie has several opportunities to kick it into the next gear but it never does
    - The ending started to get…

This is one of the dumbest movies I’ve ever seen, and I loved it so much.

I’m glad Pixar is making more original films. This one has all their usual stuff: amazing animation, emotional storytelling, family themes. There isn’t much memorable about the characters or plot although I did enjoy the fantasy angle. Overall an average Pixar flick.
