Josef Lepileo’s review published on Letterboxd:
Panic Room is a magnificent showcase for Fincher’s directorial talent, featuring swift, clean camera movements and thoroughly unique shot choices and structure. This film features solid performances from Jodie Foster, Forrest Whitaker, and a fitting early acting credit from Kristen Stewart. Howard Shore’s score was apt for the circumstances, although Koepp’s screenplay, in terms of emotional complexity, had me left wanting. Jared Leto’s performance, as one of three henchmen, seemed over-the-top and remains an unnecessary credit for an otherwise terrific actor.
Possibly the lesser of Fincher’s works (apart from The Curious Case of Benjamin button and Alien 3) but still a thoroughly enjoyable and suspense-filled ride.
