Jim Schen’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is my first movie in the Letterboxd Season Challenge 2015-16 . When possible, I tried to choose movies that fill in blind spots in my movie watching history. I am very glad to remove this blind spot. This is also my first Louis Malle film, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing more from him.
This was a great film that was captivating throughout. I was a bit tentative of the narration at the beginning, but it worked perfectly as bookends with the end narration. The conversations were captivating and cover a lot of ideas. On a future rewatch, I would like to focus more closely on the camera work.
I am sure this film will stay in my mind for a while.
Great start to the challenge!
