This delightful debut feature from Nida Manzoor packs a punch and a lot of heart. Scott Pilgrim meets Bend it Like Beckham that pays homage to both kung fu movies & Bollywood with a sincere story of sisterly love at the center. Priya Kansara is a standout & I can’t wait to see more from her.

This film is very long, very indulgent & while definitely both surreal & absurdist, it is also astoundingly literal. It definitely falls in line with Aster’s previous work, in that the subject matter is incredibly uncomfortable & terrifying at times, but the message here feels significantly more one dimensional, shallow & painfully on the nose. Modern fantasy has been stuck in this over serious & gratuitously violent place for so long, this film is such a breath of fresh air. Genuinely funny, surprisingly emotional story beats and lovable characters that make shockingly stupid decisions that somehow turn out okay - everything that DnD should be.
