The December Project film #28.
This is one of those classics hailed as masterpieces that I had never gotten around to watching, so I wanted to use The December Project as an opportunity to right that wrong.
And I'm glad I watched it, because I quite enjoyed it. But I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I'm not sure what I expected, and I can't really pinpoint what it was that made me not think of this as a masterpiece. Sure, the effects are amazing and still look great for a 1977 film. The performances are pretty good, particularly Richard Dreyfuss. But nothing of it really blew me away as I would have liked. Everything seemed to happen too fast. I think this is the typical case of coming into a film with too high expectations and nothing, no matter how good, can meet them.
