After Hours

After Hours ★★★½

"I just wanted to leave my apartment, maybe meet a nice girl, and now I've gotta die for it?" - Paul,

- Scorsese Rankings:

Cheech and Chong talking about art is some high cinema.

Who goes into New York with only $20? Paul Hackett did and he loses it on his way to a date from hell. That causes one of the worst nights in Paul's life in Martin Scorsese's dramedy thriller After Hours, a film that I think is A OK. Griffin Dunne is fantastic at the whole "I'm having a bad night" vibe so his performance is what makes this film great. That, along with the direction which is slick and sophisticated and a notch above average for this genre. The script has some genuinely awkward and interesting dialogue that keeps the audience guessing.

I liked it.
