"Oh my God... feminism!" - Sherlock Holmes
- 2020 Ranked: boxd.it/4zdAI
Fourth wall breaking.... I'll let it pass.
Sherlock has a sister and she is a young and spunky girl named Enola and she will fuck up some mysteries if you give her the chance. This is a delightful film. I haven't read the book because fiction is for losers but to me the movie is like a breath of fresh air in 2020's giant pile of crap. I found the characters to be interesting and the story to be charming and fun. I like the messages in this film about feminism and elitism but I also appreciate the little dollops of humor that broke up the more serious parts of the film. It's a feel good movie with just enough teeth to make it feel grounded and suspenseful. The highlight of the film is Milli Bobby Brown who creates a fully realized character out of Enola, something not all films accomplish.
This is ideally a film for bright eyed tweens or open-minded adults.
