Jules ✨’s review published on Letterboxd:
okay, I have to process this but this was one of the most craziest experiences I've had.
I loved this movie.
EDIT:
This was one of the wildest movies I've ever seen. I might still be hyped about it but this was amazing, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time.
I don't know where to start with this:
The plot is a survival thriller, but the director does something new and refreshing to this genre, I loved the acting, all the actors did amazing performances, although Samara Weaving excels here.
The soundtrack/score is amazing, the use of violins was spectacular.
The cinematography was perfect, there were some shots I really fell in love with.
I loved the production, I know the use of mansions for horror movies is really saturated but this fits perfectly with the rich family, owner of a very wealthy game company.
I love when small things have a payback or serve as something important at the end, and this film nailed that (pun intended).
The black comedy in this movie is glorious, I loved the deaths because they were funny but at the same time scared me. The third act of this movie was so crazy and I loved the bloodfest. And the ending... I loved the ending, I have a really dark humor so I joked about it and tried to imagine what was going to happen and I guessed it! It was so funny and twisted, perfect for the tone of the film.
I know this isn't the best horror film of the year, but it definitely is one of the best horror movies I've seen in theaters and I really want to rewatch it soon.
Recordatory: Never marry a rich person... or never get married at all.
