I actually really liked this for the most part but so much of it just seemed surprisingly fake? The artificiality of it all: the camerawork/editing, the dramatic monologues, the stock characters and dialogue in the (mostly awful) high school scenes, the forced one-liners - I never once felt like these were real characters so much as I was watching actors perform their lines, which surprised me for a director with the reputation that Spielberg has.

feels less like a film and more like a guy showing off the new soundboard he bought on the app store for $13.99.
uniquely unfulfilling; unbelievably slow and i just can't figure out what the point is. wouldn't have predicted the ending with a thousand tries!
had a lot of fun going to a film festival in a dead mall though lol
(also while i originally thought the US distribution plan was gimmicky and made the film largely inaccessible to large numbers of folks, methinks that seeing this in theaters is probably the best way to get... something out of it)
