The Double Life of Véronique

The Double Life of Véronique ★★★★½

Here is a film about a feeling. Like all feelings, it is one that can hardly be described in words, although it can be evoked in art.
- Roger Ebert

As a fan of the Three Colours Trilogy I was eager to check this one out, and unsurprisingly Kieslowski completely topped my expectations and then some.

I don't even want to analyse or try to interpret The Double Life of Veronique too much as it would remove some of the artistry and emotional power from the experience. The entire film plays out like a majestic, golden tinged dream that evokes mystery, sex, love, longing and incompleteness.

Irene Jacobs is incredibly beautiful, giving powerful performance that resonates with audiences because we've all experienced the same feelings and emotions.

It's a deeply spiritual and unforgettable cinematic experience that will no doubt require re-watches.
