Eighth Grade ★★★★½

"Nothing really, just sort of my hopes and dreams..."

WHO THE FUCK IS BO BURNHAM AND WHY IS HE SO FUCKING GOOD???!!!

This is the most realest middle school movie I've ever seen.

Elsie Fisher is amazing.

Josh Hamilton is amazing.

Camera work? Amazing.

Score? Amazing.

Everything's fucking amazing.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll cringe. A LOT.

So many memorable lines and so many memorable scenes, with characters and moments that may give you war-like flashbacks to teenage years.

It's astonishing the thoughtfulness present in something so simple and the maturity displayed in something oftentimes so juvenile. This is truly the work of a highly perceptive and talented individual in tune with the times.

Hollywood just got, like, a million times better with Bo Burnham now in town. If this is his debut, well, then color me excited for the future.

Eighth Grade is one of the best films of the year. Highly recommended, especially for fans of coming-of-age movies. "Gucci."

Best Scenes: The dinner table scene and the backyard bonfire.
