Gonzo’s review published on Letterboxd:
NEWSFLASH: There's a new Wes Anderson movie, and it has Bill Murray, and it's quirky, and stylistic, and symmetrical.
And yeah, it's great.
Sorry, Selick, but Isle of Dogs is arguably the prettiest and most impressive stop-motion animation ever made. We've never seen stop-motion done on a scale as grand and ambitious as this. So many wonderful sets. So many tiny details. And. So. Many. Dogs!
Like the movie or not, I guarantee you'll be in awe of all the creativity and hard work put towards bringing this film to life.
And give Desplat all the awards right now. Those drums are daily playlist material.
I Love Dogs comes recommended.
Best Parts: Bryan Cranston as a dog. Bryan Cranston as a dog saying shit like, "I bite," "I don't fetch," and "I don't sit." "We didn't book this trip through a travel agent!" Rumors. "I like gossip." The little pilot. Sushi. Alpha dogs. Cannibal dogs. Killer robot dogs. Oracle. "Hack successful." Military-grade. Tricks. That sweet, sweet taiko drumming.
