Kars Alfrink’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love films about people making bad decisions. This is certainly one of them. Thornton and Fonda are excellent. The rest of the acting is also very much on point and the snowy backwoods setting completes things. It all goes wrong in a horrible way, which is what we should expect from a film like this. BUT. Towards the final act the film goes all sappy on us and protagonists start expressing regret in hamfisted ways, which really put me off. So that's one star less. The music is another downer here. It too is often far too sentimental for my tastes. I would have preferred a darker mood.
