The Reel World’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is such a fun and zany cult classic movie. It’s the most unique among John Carpenter’s filmography as it blends a modern western with the martial arts genre. We follows Kurt Russell, in one of his most memorable roles, as a typical truck driver who gets caught up in a mystical, martial arts extravaganza. There’s plenty of funny dialogue, great action, and memorable characters to be found here. The movie is an unforgettable experience full of laughs, thrills, solid special effects work, and the filmmaking prowess of a wild, weird, and wonderful visionary director.
