Steven Sheehan’s review published on Letterboxd:
The most obvious reference point for this is Searching For Sugar Man - although without the happy ending. Searching For Mr Loverman is probably more apt given all the lovers, wives and children he racked up under all his various guises. Seemed to spend his entire life searching for himself without finding many answers (on the fade out to the title track of his album he sings ‘“I’ve got to change to carry on...”). His single album shows the talent he had - Stevie Wonder saw it too - but this doc is another reminder of how that is rarely enough. Life just has other ideas sometimes and fuck your plans. It’s a tragic story for everyone involved.
