Kari’s review published on Letterboxd:
Robert Montgomery rose above the unevenness and made this movie the best it could be. He was just wonderful.
I was more interested to read about Rita Johnson, who played Mrs. Farnsworth. Her last 17 years were sad. In 1948, she supposedly had a freak accident with a hair dryer that resulted in brain surgery. It took a year for her to recover enough to act in a few small parts. She became an alcoholic and died in 1965 of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 52.
Here is an article that gives more background on Rita and calls into question the hair dryer story.
