A Department Store Seduction
You stole my breath by quiet stealth.
In ambush, you arrested my gaze,
And I was held captive by your poise,
Dignified and aloof.
You stood erect by the train set,
A vision like a watercolour print
In the suffused colours
Of a department store catalogue.
You turned and you smiled
And my heart skipped a beat,
The sharp edges of your face
Softening to spur an unknown fire.
Curiosity gripped my instincts.
Strange forces charged my nerves
As they lit up like Christmas lights.
A beckoning, a birth of something new.
