The moment the music began and the prologue started scrolling up the screen I start sobbing.
And I couldn't stop. By the time I got home my eyes were red and sore. I have had one of the shittest years of my life.
But Star Wars is still there. It will always be there.
It takes all our epic struggles, the conflicts with our families and ourselves, and transforms them on the big screen into dog battles in space and light saber duels to the death.
This is the infinitude of the universe, foregrounded by neon catharsis as all our vital signs fall into step with the emotional swell of an intergalactic orchestra.
And in between all of this is the Force. It is the thing that fills the void between me and you. It draws us closer together, our souls briefly touching each other in the void of this night, providing us each with the spark of acknowledgement and love.
Please remember, you are never truly alone. Not when you always have Star Wars to remind you of the beauty and love that exists in between the cracks of life.
May the Force be with you.
