Karm’s review published on Letterboxd:
A frickin MASTERPIECE. Best CBM of 2021 easy. First of all Ramin Djawadi’s score is majestic af. Especially in key sequences. The fight scenes are so good and really long. All of them utilize the characters properly.
It handles the hefty themes of the movie brilliantly and Chloe Zhao’s direction is top notch. No doubt the most beautiful film of MCU.
Characters-
The Celestials- their design is so beautiful and they feel huge and majestic when u see them. Will probably have a bigger role in the sequels
Ikaris- by far my favorite character and Madden nails the emotional scenes. His character struggles and loyalty are dealt with so nicely and his action sequences are better than Superman’s too 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️
Sersi- really enjoyed her relationship with ikaris and Dane. Gemma Chan is such a sweetheart. I love her! She isn’t as strong a character as Ikaris but I loved her.
Thena and Gilgamesh- The most complex character and most tragic one. Her and Gilgamesh’s relationship is probably the best in the movie
Druig and Makkari- they were really underused in my opinion. Every sequence with then using their powers is beautiful. Easily the best power display and use.
Sprite- sprite was a cool character too and her banter and sarcasm with everyone was the best. Her conflict I feel wasn’t properly dealt with imo.
Phastos- phastos on the other hand showing him dealing with having a family, having guilt and trying to save the world was pretty nicely used
Kingo- He was the really funny in the movie and stole the scene every time he spoke. Kumail played him with great charm.
The Deviants- I can’t say much about their role in the film as that would spoil the film but their designs were so awesome and scary
Special shout-out to Karun. I laughed every single time he spoke and I never expected to be close to tears by this character. Hats off to Harish Patel.
