Famously igniting the explosion of blockbusters, Spielberg's tale of a voracious shark is off to a brilliant start. In the first half, less is more. The pace is quick, the storytelling and building of dread masterful. Once we get onto sea, though, the movie slows down and while the performances leave nothing to be desired, the shark itself, in all its animatronic horror, regrettably does. Seeing it is just not scary. At all. The score, however...
