Big Eden 2000
This is an interesting piece of gay culture, arriving at the beginning of a massive transition of gay visibility. It's post-Ellen, but just barely, and it makes the Montana small-town citizens that support getting Henry and Pike hitched incredibly remarkable.
Big Eden isn't a perfect rom-com. Some of the filmmaking choices are awkward and the pace can be slow. Our lead Henry is bland and underwritten, even when the script wants to position him as a career-focused city slicker returning…

Wonder Woman 2017
Most emotionally engaged I've been with a superhero movie in a while. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot together put in the work to give this film a beating heart beneath the carnage and flash of its action scenes. Chris Pine has also unexpectedly gone up in my personal rankings for Best Chris in Hollywood.
