Ohhhhh Yes Daddy! Invader Zim is my 3rd favorite Nickelodeon animated show only second to the masterpiece’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “Spongebob” (and technically Back to Barnyard but it transcends the list obviously). So you could say I was excited for the revival of Invader Zim in a movie.
The entire cast came back to return from Billy West’s legendary voice as Zim to Andy Berman’s most iconic voice as Dib. Jhonen Vasquez (series creator) returns to help with this special and damn does it work. Almost everything blends and works perfectly. The characters motivation feel worth it and great earned. That is why I feel this film nails all the physical aspects of the film.
From the technical aspects of the film, by far this has the best color palette of the year. The animation is some of the best 2D animation I have ever seen and not only was it 2D animation but they use so many different forms which is just heaven for me. I just was eating everything up and was truly amazed. So visually pleasing.
In conclusion not going to spoil any of plot but if you seen you know it gets insane, dark, funny, and diss not suffer from any tonal issues.
Edit: I changed it from 4 and 1/2 stars to 5 because I like Invader Zim.
