    The slow turn of the pod, the complete cutting of the sound, and then three quick cuts zooming into Hal’s beaming eye is still one of the most memorable scares in cinema. 

    I can’t think of a single other film that’s over half a century old that holds up on every thinkable level as well as this does.

    Haven’t read the book or seen the Lynch film so as a complete novice to this story I’m glad I became engrossed! 

    The first hour had me worried as there were lots of very heavy expositional moments that in hindsight were absolutely needed.
