Women Make Film: A New Road Movie Through Cinema

    ★★★

Seen the whole thing now as a five part showing on GIFF.

If you've seen Story of Film this should be familiar, no interviews or behind the scenes or anything. Just clips subjectively selected and narrated (through some female narrators) by Mark Cousins.

There are hundreds of different movies beeing shown, but i can't help thinking to myself that it's a bit repetitive. Som directores get featured quite a lot: Varda, Bigelow, Tanaka, Sciamma etc.

    But there is a great…

  • The Painted Bird

    The Painted Bird

    ★★★

In the "lonely child in the middle of a war"-genre, it's probably the most brutal one i've seen. But as a work of art i wouldn't rate it as high as Klimovs "Come and See", Tarkovskys "Ivans Childhood", Nemecs "Diamons of the night" or my personal favorite Jancsos "My Way Home"

  • The Lighthouse

    The Lighthouse

    ★★★★

A quite nice mix of Tarr, Bergman and Polanski. Not quite up to their heights though.

  • Sorority House Massacre

    Sorority House Massacre

    ★½

Not nearly as good as the semi-official sequels by Jim Wynorski.

  • Deep Crates

    Deep Crates

    ★★

Like a weak and very long episode of Fuses YouTube series Crate Diggers

  • Sunset

    Sunset

    ★★★

If you like this but think: "i wish this was 16 times longer and didn't have any eerie soundtrack to it"

I've got the movie for you: Nightfall (James Benning, 2012)

  • The Untamed

    The Untamed

    ★★★½

This is by all means Escalantes most original movie and an interesting genre-mix. But it doesn't have the strict elegance that his first two movies have.

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox

    Fantastic Mr. Fox

    ★★★★

    Wes Andersons best!

  • I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer

I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer

I have a sweetspot for the two first movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt, but this movie is really bad. Had to rewatch it to see if it was as bad as I remembered it, unfortunately it was :(

  • The Conjuring

    The Conjuring

    ★★★

One of the better paranormal horror flicks i've seen lately. But of course it has to be a bit of a cirkus in the end even here...
