Kern’s review published on Letterboxd:
Mundane feels like a harsh word, but especially compared to the other works I've seen from Almodovar, this is relatively unexciting and ordinary. Surprised to see Banderas getting so much praise, since there are at least two supporting performances here that outshine him (though they're given much more to work with). And I've got no clue what the purpose of the final shot/reveal is; seems to detract from rather than enrich what we've just watched. I'm colder than most on Almodovar in general though, so varying grains of salt are in order. I've seen some compare this to Fellini's 8 1/2, and I wasn't bowled over by that one either, so they may be onto something.
