Kern’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of the stronger, though more inconsistent entries in the franchise. A decent action flick and a surprisingly delightful comedy rolled into one. Unfortunately the two don't mesh together in the slightest, feeling like a disjointed ping-ponging between serious superhero business and lighthearted humor. I loved the first act, but once Spider-Man makes his inevitable appearance, it's a steep downturn as the film struggles to maintain a consistent tone. Eventually picks back up in the second half with some really inventive set pieces, but ultimately the narrative borrows too much from Iron Man 3 to feel as bold as it should.
Still, a pale imitation of one of the franchise's best is preferable to yet another unimaginative entry. The highs are higher, the lows are lower, but ultimately I'd put this right on par with Spider-Man: Homecoming as one of my favorites in the MCU.
