Kerry Maxwell’s review published on Letterboxd:
"If you want me to lick you, I need a better present"
This played in part like a bad improv sketch that went on WAY too long*, interspersed with disturbing sex and violence. After the initial novelty wore off, and a disturbing bit of simulated animal cruelty, I was in "Seriously?! Fuck this movie!" mode for most of the duration. Plenty of interesting ideas, and myriad possible interpretations, but I went into it unprepared for how disturbing it is.
*From the interview with director Yorgos Lanthimos, it sounds like that's what much of shooting consisted of.
